Chris McNulty joins Causeway Solutions having most recently served as the Political Director at the Republican National Committee where he is credited with rebuilding the RNC’s field program from the ground up. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus referred to McNulty as a “transformational” Political Director for the multiple advances he is credited with instituting within the Party, including greater integration of data and the successful introduction of predictive voter scores into the field programs.
Under his leadership voter contact programs were tested for the first time in over a decade and adjusted to increase effectiveness. Additionally under McNulty, the Political Department brought on National Directors for Hispanic, Asian, African American, Youth and Military Coalitions and developed a national field program tailored to each respective group. During the ’14 election cycle, the RNC Political Department deployed 320 staff, recruited 41,561 volunteers, and made 38,190,876 voter contacts. 2014 produced a historic level of elected Republicans, including the most members of the House since 1929, the highest number of legislatures held in American history, 31 Republican Governors, and a gain of 9 Republican U.S. Senate seats.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, McNulty cut his teeth in politics organizing grassroots efforts for Judge Thomas Janas in 1994 before serving as field representative for the Ohio Republican Party. In 1997 he moved on to serve as the Ohio GOP’s Political Director, eventually working his way to the role of Executive Director – a role he served in until 2006. Under his leadership, McNulty helped deliver Ohio for President George W. Bush’s successful re-election campaign in 2004. McNulty also served as the RNC’s Regional Political Director from 2006 until 2010 when he joined Speaker John Boehner’s Political Office of the Speaker to serve as Deputy Executive Director.
McNulty currently resides in Ohio with his wife, Jenna, and two children.
