Where Things Stand
Ten weeks ago we started with six people in a room and no code. Today a Causeway employee picks a state, a district, and a party, clicks once, and receives a finished District Intelligence Brief. Somewhere in Sprint 3 the question changed — it stopped being whether we could generate the right answer and became whether we could put that answer in someone's hands in a form they could use. The engine solved the analysis. The platform solved the delivery. This is the final post in our AI build series.
Not a Faster Horse. A Car.
In mid-April, the system produced in three days what would have taken twelve weeks. For a few days, that was the whole story, until Molly asked what we'd actually built.
Why the Analysis Was the Easy Part
The first time our new system ran end to end, the output was completely correct. We still couldn't use a word of it. What it took to close the gap between correct and good, and why the analysis was never the hard part.
Cleaning Out the Garage
Before we built anything, we had to decide what kind of system we were building. Sprint 0 wasn't about code. It was about the foundational choices that determine what everything that follows can become.
